"Mise en Demeure" Quebec radical anarchist alternative urban Montreal scene music

On October 13, 2011, CHUO 89.1 FM (Ottawa) The Train's Denis Rancourt went solo:

• to comment on the recent RIM Blackberry blackout media coverage,
• to read the latest press release from the Bradley Manning Support Network, and
• to feature the French text and music of "Mise en Demeure" ("Notice Served", roughly translated).

Host Rancourt tried to "translate" some of the titles and lyrics... and described the dumster-diving and police-violence-abused scene that has given rise to the penetrating expression of Mise en Demeure.

Universite Populaire A Montreal (UPAM)

On March 3, 2011, The Train's Denis Rancourt interviewed founding organizer of the Universite Populaire A Montreal (UPAM) Anne Goldenberg.

The UPAM was both an academic squat free school and a strike action at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal (UQAM) that sustained itself in the critical meltdown strike and government tutelage period of November 2007 to March 2008.

Anne guided us through this exciting experiment in self-organized free education. Anne has gone on to organize large conferences using this self-organized model in which the schedule is spontaneously created by the student-teachers and there are no professors.
